I noticed the ice time wasn’t equal and better players were played more. I know my kid wouldn’t want to celebrate if he barely played.
VR had a maximal 8F and 5D almost the entire season, while MB got several good players in Jan including AAA. That is the truth.
I watched the games. A couple players had hardly any ice time, minute shifts. Must be hard to be on a team like that even if they are winning, you didn’t contribute much.

The players who don’t see much ice time pay less
MB is a good team but not respected at all based on the way they deal with players
But at least they are one of the few teams that give money back if your kid doesn’t play many minutes

That’s correct my son played for MB/the same coach and at the end of the year, we got some money back. He didn’t get very much ice time at all & couple games he never even played. It felt awkward to celebrate at the end when we won, but the money back at the end of the year made it ok.

Remember this is AA, not AAA, that is why the MB coach should be blamed. In contrast, VR rolls all their players, including weak ones and unlike MB, VR keeps the same team for the entire season even if they have no full rosters. VR should be respected.

I get what you’re saying and respect that.

All I’m commenting on is my son didn’t get played much, he’s not one of the top players and we got some money back.

Now we are trying for aaa

That explains why VR was swept. If you want to play on a team that rolls lines, play houseleague.

MB was far from a top-tier team, consistently losing to squads like VP, DD, VR, and even ST. However, in January, they recruited several elite players—including AAAs—and gave them the majority of the ice time. It's a blatant move that undermines the spirit of fair play. Shame on MB, and shame on MF for making it.

Nope we are going for triple. We try every year. I know we are probably on the aaa coaches radar as wannabes but why stop now. Keep the nhl dream alive!

Well they want to win. They added better players than your kid and unfortunately your kid got benched. Thats hockey! It happens all the time and at every level.

I have kids at much younger and older age groups than 2008.

I’ve got to say - this level of hockey is much weaker than anything I’ve seen over the years. This is honestly disgraceful to the G that they call this AA. Majority of these kids lack any hockey fundamentals including skating, passing, hockey sense, etc. My son just does this for fun at this age anyways but I’m commenting on what I’ve seen based on watching multiple different age groups develop.

With a straight face you can’t tell me a championship finals with 7 shots total and 886 giveaways in total (yes, I counted the last game) is even hockey. What the heck even happened of substance that entire series? You put these kids head to head to any hockey players even at U12 and they get destroyed.

Parents here in the stands let the AA title get to their heads, I see it every game. This is house league level of play. You’ll at least find a couple great players in house league, almost all the kids in the finals can’t skate properly. This all around was a dumpster fire and a sorry excuse for hockey.

Parents, please don’t think this is what AA hockey looks like, you witnessed house league hockey. My girls AA team would’ve beat either side 10-0. I have to be honest as no one else will say it to you and some of you just may not know any better. This was a very sad display of the sport. I dont post here often but I had to say something.

If you think I’m full of crap, put your kid against players at a local shinny and see how he does, including against ones who played any level below AA even house league or A - something you guys are leagues above. It’ll be a great reality check and you’ll see that age groups around 2008 are a beyond weak class.

Ah, the classic debate about ice time on a championship team! There are 4 types of players on the Beast and they all know their role:

Superstars: Look, if you’ve got a player who can dangle through defenders like they’re traffic cones and score from the blue line while blindfolded—they’re gonna play more. Why? Because they’re essentially the human equivalent of a highlight reel, and the crowd isn’t showing up to watch someone skate in circles while eating a granola bar.

Specialists: Some players are like that one friend who’s always the first to volunteer for any job, whether it’s getting the snacks or taking a penalty shot in the shootout. These are your penalty killers, your power-play wizards. If ice time were equal, you'd be wasting valuable seconds not using the one guy who can take a slapshot from outer space and score from the stands.

Role Players: Yes, they might not be scoring hat tricks every game, but they bring the grit, the grind, and the occasional clean hit that makes the other team remember they’re playing a game, not a yoga class. If everyone’s getting the same ice time, they’d be too busy staring at the clock to remember their job is to annoy the other team into mistakes.

Benchwarmers: They’re there for moral support. They bring the energy, and they bring snacks for the locker room. Equal ice time for them? Sure, until you realize the last time they touched the puck was during warm-ups, and even then, it was mostly just to touch it to avoid being the last one on the ice.

In conclusion, ice time on the Beast is like a buffet—some players are the main course, and others are the sides that complement everything. Giving everyone the same portion? Well, let’s just say you wouldn’t put brussel sprouts and steak on the same plate. It’s all about balance, baby!

REMINDER TO ALL

Tryouts for U18 AAA have now commenced.

Be sure to get out there and give it your best efforts.

There are very limited spots available.

Teams will be running 4 separate skates due to high demand, 36 kids per skate.

Skates will be divided based on conviction of the player type. For example, skate A is franchise potential, skate B is elite potential, skate C is top 6F / top 4D, skate D is top 9F / bottom 6d potential, etc.

Just because you may be listed as a bottom 9 forward in year one, doesn’t mean you can’t develop into a top 6 forward next year.

Be sure to bring your full game, whatever that may be, teams are looking for two way forwards, grinders, power forwards, snipers, playmakers. Full coaching staff and general managers will be present to ensure talent is spotted.

GLTA!
