you sound like a complete idiot. Hitting clinics are more about learning to take a hit then delivering a hit. The kids learn to avoid putting themselves in vulnerable positions to avoid serious injury. I played high level hockey growing up and clearly remember it was mandatory to go to a hitting clinic with our team. And this was 30 years ago.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 3:30 pmIt is not about being smart , it is about experience at a high level, which it sounds like you have zero, kinda like your wife’s Diet Coke (not working)!Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 2:50 pmYou sound really smart.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 2:30 pmBuddy there are some small basic things you need to know about hitting and taking a hit. If your coaching is telling you he’s running a hitting clinic or hitting practice….please do your son a favour, run, run and run.
However, reading the play and the IQ required to really hit some one or miss being hit cannot be taught in a clinic, it is very in game specific. Your kid will need to learn the IQ of hitting and if he has low hockey IQ don’t hold your breath.
My guy is only 110 pounds right now, but do to timing and readying the play he is laying kids out twice his size!

Why is the above poster complaining about kids attending a hitting clinic. It’s good for a kid to know how to position to take a hit for example close to the boards when taking a hit so you don’t go flying into the boards and hit twice. How to hit so you don’t end up throwing out your shoulder instead. What’s wrong with teaching this to kids.

Re: 2011 AAA
Perhaps a better strategy would be to teach them not to board kids from behind as this is the biggest issue and very hard to protect yourself from in clinics. It is usually the result of poor parenting and encouraging the wrong aspect of the game. If you think your clinics are going to protect from this go for it!Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 4:32 pmyou sound like a complete idiot.
