In terms of travel, what would be reasonable AAA options for a kid from Carlisle if there are no spots in Hamilton, because the team is full of kids who arent from Hamilton?
Some kids just want to play AAA hockey against good competition.... rather than be a bottom player on a good team..... be a middle to top player on another team and get ice time.... believe it or not some kids and parents are o.k. with there kid being on a middle to low end team.... especially at a young age as long as the quality of coaching is there.... examples of centers that are closer to Carlisle than Hamilton.... you have Halton.... Burlington..... Cambridge and maybe even Guelph.
Oh I get it...icetime over wins. Agree.

My point is, that with open borders Hamilton could stack up with top players from Halton, Burlington, Cambridge and Guelph. Then players would gravitate to whichever centre is deemed the "next best option". Complete lack of parity in that region eliminates the "mid-pack" option.

Open borders in the O would be a teribble idea.

Take the best players from all those centres and put them together and it’s an 8th place team in the G anyway
Add a couple greasy coaches in there and you have a disaster. There is already too many scummy decisions being made within the perimeters, this would be Mayhem

Meh, open borders just means all star teams. Stupid parents think that this is development.

Stupid coaches thinks that stacking a team and winning more means they're a good coach.

We are really at a cross roads where this involves at higher up decision making positions have no idea how to move forward.

You must be an executive from a center that has poor programming, any center that has good coaches and good programming welcomes open borders. We need to stop forcing kids where they can play. Good players get locked into centers with bad programming or poor coaches. This insanity needs to stop, give people choice, and stop the 1990s way iof thinking. We are already way over regulated. I have been around for 20 years and do feel the dam is about to burst due to over regulations.
Sounds like you voted for Trudeau
No that would be you. JT is a control freak who needs to force people into things they don't want. Free competition is the environment needed for innovation and improvement. People like you, who love Black Face, need to hide behind administrative protection to remain relevant. Let people have a say, have choice, and those involved will be "highly motivated" to be their best and treat people properly. Have a quality product, with quality people involved, treat people well, provide a product/service that has enough value for the money and time involved, and you'll attract people. It's called earning things on MERIT.

Sure have an agreed upon format of player movement to work towards some level of parity, but get out of the closed centre mentality-it's terrible, it's bad for value and for a quality product.
Has this been announced? Or was this just rumour. It would be incredible, I know a lot of kids on who would love to play for an experienced coach with character and a resume but currently feel trapped.
This will never happen. They will lose too many centres which generate money for the higher ups. NEVER HAPPEN
The last post will not age well.. its happening buckle up

It’s happening at the AAA level, starting next season. It should be announced soon. Boards better pick good coaches if they want a winning team, people have had enough of the nepotism

Since you seem to know, is this an OHF amendment to the rules or is it at the lower levels like OMHA? Was it already voted on at an AGM or is it tabled for the future one or has it been sent out to associations?
