Clancy or Founders
Clancy or Founders
What happens to the kids teams not making the playoffs this year. First year in the G as a parent. We are on the outside looking in. Doesn't seem fair nothing like Founders or Clancy for non playoff teams. I would think this would worry the G as it will impact participation the next year.
Re: Clancy or Founders
I don’t think that’s happened last couple years but those were Covid years. Not sure why it’s not happening this year.
Re: Clancy or Founders
They must have just scraped it all again this season with the delayed start. My prediction with all the Rep age groups reverting to Spring tryouts, the GTHL Season will be able to switch back to the Pre-Covid schedule and season start dates, which used to be mid September. Then I think Founders and Clancy will be resurrected. Same as Tiering for the larger divisions.
They've also hinted that this season's playoff format may very well be a one off yet again. And using feedback of these past two season and pre-covid formats, come up with a consensus best format in 2023-24.
Sorry I digressed a bit beyond the topic.

Re: Clancy or Founders
It seems like the non playoff teams don't get the chance to have as much ice time as the playoff teams. I don't mind the playoff format but give the non playoff teams a chance to do a round robin tournament to extend season to April. The G is all about inclusivity so lets include all levels of teams with similar amount of games.
Re: Clancy or Founders
The G says it’s all about inclusivity and lowering costs. You let the best teams have extra games and practices .. not fair is right. There needs to be consolidation rounds so all teams get equal games. Team budgets need to be aligned so all teams get the same coaching and practice time. Clearly work needs to be done.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 6:33 am It seems like the non playoff teams don't get the chance to have as much ice time as the playoff teams. Re: Clancy or Founders
If you win you get more games. If you lose you are out. Just like the NHL. Put your kid in the right level. If you are on a bottom feeder AA team this year, then drop down to A and you can play more games. Simple.
Re: Clancy or Founders
You don't get it. This is not the NHL. It is minor hockey where all teams pay the same and all players pay the same to play. Thus, all teams should play the same number of games whether you are AA, AAA or A. My son is on a bottom feeder team but should we not stick it out, build from the core and develop? We can't develop at the same rate if we don't play the same number of games and practices.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 3:18 pm If you win you get more games. If you lose you are out. Oh I get it. It isn't the NHL. You pay for the regular season. Every team plays the same amount of games. Then the playoffs happen. If you win you get to keep playing. Just like every other team sport in the entire world. If your kid is a good player, then get them in a better team next year. If they are not a good player on a bad team then drop down a level. Kids are free agents every year (unlike the NHL), your kid can go to whatever team will take them. Nothing stopping your team from practicing after the regular season or arranging exhibition games with other teams that don't make the playoffsGuest wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 4:45 pmYou don't get it.
