Honest assessment of the game. Forwards played fine, defence looked weak with too many turnovers. Back end looks too small on this team for next season if they want to compete in the top half of the division.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:09 am Watched the NT vs NYK game and it was a even game. NYK F did a good job working the puck down low, not a lot of turnovers and a few close offsides. Not sure why all the hate. NYK D seem to panic and did not look great. Especially on the PP.

Totally agree, small, slow they move backwards instead of forward,Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:49 amHonest assessment of the game. Here you guys go again. Don Cherry's rock them sock them hockey, big and bad. Have you seen all the good AAA teams in contact D core. Fast agile and smart, not big. A good coach will take a fast agile D core even if they are small. Hockey has changed the way its played.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:49 amHonest assessment of the game. Yes and no - best D core is big, fast and smart. People always seem to equate big with slow and that's just not the case. It's just an easy thing to say to try and convince yourself that small is ok. There is a balance. Small and exceptionally good skater with crazy good hockey IQ is not easy to find, so people will tend towards big, very good skater who doesn't make glaring mistakes.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 12:09 pmHere you guys go again. ohhh NYK D dad upset again. D wins games and your core does not do that. They cough the puck up way too much and are not an offensive threat. The F score all the goals. sorry for the reality check. NYK d dad, you can now get back to trashing all other D's on teams.

Agree speed and mobility are increasingly valued, but you still have to be able to take and give a hit and clear the front of the net.
Average height of an OHL defenseman is 6" - 6'1" and average height of an NHL defenseman is 6'1.5"

Re: 2012 GTHL EAST AA
I would reach out to all the coaches. There is always a spot if your kid is good enough even with the top teams. Also probably a lot of movement with body contact next year.

the coaches are not updated. Can anyone confirm who are the coaches next year?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 3:08 pm I would reach out to all the coaches. There is always a spot if your kid is good enough even with the top teams. Also probably a lot of movement with body contact next year.

Per new OHF Open Boarders and increased vigilance against tampering, coaches are not allowed to be confirmed until Feb 15th
"Strict rules are in place for the announcing of coaches, including penalties for coaches and Associations involved in tampering or recruitment. These measures are a change in culture and will be strictly enforced. These changes include a need for parents to change their internal expectations of confirming teams prior to player evaluations.
When will coaching announcements be made?
Associations will be able to announce their coaching staffs for the next season on February 15."
