Wow, imagine if NT scores on the empty net. That would have sunk DMM chances all together. What were they thinking?

A win would have set them up to just have to win their last game to advance. Tie has them needing a small miracle. It was the right call to me.

They had a PP, o-zone draw and 1:30 to play. 100% go for it pulling goalie. You can't accept the odds of getting through on needing NT to lose to TRTB plus plus when you can control your own destiny by winning as opposed to tying. Easy call.

Round 1 Analysis
East
TRT - Impressive showing, going undefeated in 7. Their scorers are scoring and getting good goaltending.
LF - 1 game left vs. ARD. Very stingy on the Goals against. 3/6 games were shutouts. 2 games with 1 goals against. TRT solved them for 1 night.
ARD - 1 game left vs. LF. Huge target on their backs as they won the East handily. Weathered the storm and will move on.
NT - Primed to take the final spot. A win/tie does it. A loss might place them in a tie breaker scenario. Steady top team all year.
VVM - The AA team is in jeopardy of missing Round 2. Need a win, with certain conditions met, in order to advance.
TRTB - As the Alternate team, making it to the Round of 8 was something many predicted wouldnt happen. That said, disappointing showing. Lack of Scoring + too many Goals Against. Have 1 game left to play spoiler.
TA - Good showing for this team in their 2nd season saw them make the round robin, but major disappointment once they got there. Lack of scoring and inconsistent goal tending id them in.
SIR - Much like their cousins in AA, complete offensive ineptness. They work hard, and have really good goaltending that gets wasted year over year. That said, they have 1 game left to play spoiler to VVM.

West
Top 4 all Advance. No games of any consequence unless Round 2 has seeding?
AVS - Offensive juggernaut. Dropped 1 to HVS where the Offense disappeared.
HVS - 1 of 2 teams to limit the AVS offense. Threw points away in their tie with TE and loss to DD. Should have beaten WML by more and good showing vs. AVS. Final game vs VR will be for Pride.
VR - Held off the AVS offense in a 1-0 loss. Threw points away vs. DD and WML. Final game vs. HVS will be for Pride.
WML - Did enough to advance. Only loss so far was to a strong HVS team. Only hiccup was a point given away to DD.
DD - A "bottom" team that had a chance to knock on the door of Round 2. Stole points in ties vs. WML and VR, plus a win vs. HVS. Losses to TE and VP cost them a berth in Round 2.
TE - Stole a point in their tie vs. HVS and helped kill DD's chances at Round 2 with a win. The remaining games were as expected. Have
a game for pride vs. VP. Not a bad showing for a 1st year team.
VP - Disappointing regular season followed by a disappointing playoff for this 2nd Year team. They did help kill DD's chances of advancing in their only win. A battle with TE for Pride is all thats left.

It's no secret that you never hear anything bad about certain organizations, TRT being one of them. Well run, well coaches. HC very well respected around the G. Was he livid that a LF cross checked a TRT kid from behind with approx. 15 seconds left in the game (check livebarn if it shows it)? Of course, wouldn't anyone be? It's a "nothing game" with both teams having clinched. Just a dirty play and the HC was likely chirping the opposing coach.

LF parent here. Didn't hear any chirping and thought it was a great game. Didn't see anything dirty or dangerous, just some intensity at times. Always good playing TRT.

TR 1, LF 2, 3/4 not quite done yet but will be NT and ARD in some combination. VVM eliminated.

Likely scenario for round 2 is TR vs ARD and LF vs NT.
