Most coaches are piss poor communicators, in love with the game, can't teach it and maybe had a sniff playing Jr. C somewhere and now consider themselves "hockey guys" with "hockey knowledge", able to teach and coach kids. LOL Laughable, guys that dig ditches are there for a reason. People who teach and coach in your school system are at least educated. Not perfect system either but just outlining the difference. Think about how your hockey coaches treat players vs how teachers treat your kids!
Teachers are petrified to hold a kid accountable for anything these days, with the fear of of becoming the next viral sensation thanks to cell phone recordings. I know three teachers who openly say that they don't know the names of any of the kids in their class and no matter how poor a kid is doing, they give them a passing grade just so they don't have to deal with the parents.
Coaches hold kids accountable...which parents interpret as "poor communication" and "inability to teach"...when the reality is that the kid doesn't listen because he doensn't have listen in school or at home and thanks to his parents he doesn't understand the concept of merit based reward nor consequences based on his actions.
FAR too many coaches are premedonnas. Ironically they sre nowhere good enough to be a premedonna.
