There should not be any “Rep” level lower than A.

Make it all local or HL below that. If a kid from a small town wants to play rep then go out to the next bigger centre and try out.

Canada needs to put fun back into hockey where more kids just want a puck dropped and go. Rep is now watered down so much that only people who can commit time and money have kids playing low level rep instead of HL where they probably should be with their friends from school and community.

NRP is a joke. they won't change it because local centres will lose money... at least that is what the centres want you to believe. local centres should only be responsible for house league and selects. Boundaries these days are to make sure those with money can buy their kids entry and limit talent. QRD AAA is a pay to play organization. Bring money and you play. Bring in third party evaluators everywhere.

NRP is broken because of the unwritten rule that you don't take goalies. I have seen so many talented goalies not be able to play because of this. it has to go. It is bad enough that goalie gear is so expensive.

Anyone heard confirmation on NRP changes for 25/26 season?

Word around town is that the OMHA may reverse previous NRP rules(phasing out for 2014 kids when they hit U12) and increase up to 5 NRPS by the 2025/26 season.

Curious if anyone else is hearing this and what the reasoning would be? We are in a B centre in Niagara and this decision would likely decimate the rep levels in the smaller centres(Pelham, NOTL, Fort Erie and Port Colborne). Amalgamation for a couple of these centres would be the only solution if this NRP change actually happens.

Would love some insight on this one...
Last year they attempt to phase it out at the AGM and it got voted down. Not sure about raising the NRPs, they have amalgamated many of the centres around London leaving our B centre decimated, but our executive still want to put out watered down products that have losing seasons. We have lost all our talent to A centres around us. Alliance seems to have their stuff together around us though.
Only option for AA is Jr. knights. It’s due time the Elgin Middlesex Canucks offer a AA option, instead of shipping all their cuts to surrounding AAA centres.
Will never happen, Alliance (EMC), A (OMHA). Right now the LJK AA are mopping up playing a bunch of A teams all year.
Ok, but wouldn’t it make sense to have a AA team with EMC, then? Why won’t it ever happen, what are the barriers? Creating a strong AA loop would allow for more development
It would make sence, 5-10 EMC cuts to play AAA elsewhere from every age group. You could build a power AA team out of those kids and have a good farm team for AAA

Too much bs, too many egos and just brain dead member partners. (Alliance and OMHA), OHF should abolish all the member partners and have 1 governing body of hockey in Ontario. open borders, very specific best practices and policies, and clearly geographically defined regions of AAA/AA/A/LL

What’s nrp?
NRP=Non-resident player. Currently at the U12 age group and up teams can roster up to 3 NRP players meaning players that are from other centres and the the centre they are trying out for. The more the OMHA increases this allowed number, the weaker it will make the smaller centres as their best players should likely make higher caliber teams as NRp's
Thanks for the clarification
