I think the main thing is to have the kids continually develop their skills. For WN coaches, once they hit U13 they seem to think they don’t need to fine tune anything. More specifically, they need to work on the skills and tactics that are preventing the kids from making AA. Winning should be reserved for AAA and coaches at AA and A should be evaluated by how many kids they move into the upper tiers.

Honest question - what does development mean? or what are you looking for with development?

Rep teams generally have 2 practices a week. Do your coaches not work on getting your kids better? Is it only focused on team play?

I'm just a lowly HL/LL coach but the first 10-15 mins of practice we still work on the basics of skating, passing, shooting, etc.

Just curious as I see people complain about "no development" but I'm curious as to what you look for.

This group has had potential as their AA team won OMhA last year but have a number of families that are cancers. JN is horrible and the new coach for next’s kid is BB at best. Look for them to bring more BB players on
