MB, FT and MNS will be the top 3 teams in the west. And they will be very competitive with each other if rosters stay as they are right now. Observations:
Goaltending - FT has the edge over the other two. Goalie is big, moves well and isn’t afraid to come out of the net. Doesn’t give up many rebounds. MB and MNS look about the same but give the edge to MB due to goalie’s big size difference. This could be a problem for MNS as they only had 1 goalie dress?
Speed - MNS easily because their D as a group are very fast. Forwards are more evenly matched. MNS 19 is the fastest of any of the kids but MNS also has some snails hiding on bottom lines. FT is faster than MB, everyone is good.
Size - FT and MB tie. MNS has gotten bigger but not big enough.
Forwards - FT has the most depth based on what I saw. Their top forwards are also bigger. MNS second. MB hasn’t replaced their best player 11 with somebody as good.
Defence - MNS by a country mile. Not on their team but if we’re honest there are at least 2 if not 3 D they have that are better than anyone on MB or FT. Credit to their D coach, that guy is running a tight and unmatched ship. MB is next, FT last.
Coaching - MNS and MB tie. Both teams are playing a game that looks like hockey starts to look in U12-13. FT relies on individual strength but is not pretty to watch.
Overall? Probably FT.
