Fair and Equal Ice-Time

Re: Fair and Equal Ice-Time
In an ideal world you are correct. However, you are ignoring coaches that play favorites, as many do. They don't care about extra effort and will try to put the spotlight on theirs and friends' kids. Starts with ice-time and development opportunities, and ends with manipulations of points in Gamesheet.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 3:36 pmhmmm.... some of you have fair and equal a$$ backwards. kids that put in the extra effort, the ones that shoot pucks and train on off days, the ones who focus on eating well and getting enough sleep because it pays dividends in terms of their performance, the ones who are focused on developing on and off the ice... those kids typically earn the most ice. If your kid is gaming 2 hours a day, not eating clean, nott getting proper rest, not training when they're away from the rink, than your kid doesn't deserve the same ice as someone who is doing these things. this assumes they're in a competitive program.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:02 pmCanadian hockey is falling behind. Coaches need to put their ego aside and focus on development. There are plenty of good kids who didn't go far because coaches focused on winning. It's often too late once these early superstars realize that winning isn't sufficient.
FAIR IS NOT EQUAL. fair is rewarding hard work. all you people whining that your kid isn't getting ice, look at their work ethic off the ice and then put forth your arguments. I have zero qualms with my kid riding the pine if he isn't putting in the work. the lesson is clear here and it's what all the snowflakes out there haven't learned. coaches are there to develop your kids but your kids have to actually put in the work even after they leave the rink if they want to develop at the same rate as someone who does.

Re: Fair and Equal Ice-Time
Nope, it doesn’t. Each Fifedom can make their own ruling in regards to this. For example the NYHL doesn’t do 1/2 ice as per Hockey Canada, it does 3/4 ice.

This is not true and if it is, that coach should not be teaching young children. Top teams develop and play ALL their players. Lazy, incompetent coaches only play their best players.
And don't whine and complain. Mention it ONE time to your coach and if there isn't an immediate change, take it directly to the GTHL. Simple.
Re: Fair and Equal Ice-Time
You ask any AAA coach if he plays his best players the majority of the time and see what he says. Deny it all you want, it’s happening. GTHL will do nothing. I know of coaches doing it even at the AA level.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 12:40 pmGuest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 10:57 amGuest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 10:32 amStop whining and go to another team then.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 10:27 amIn an ideal world you are correct. Re: Fair and Equal Ice-Time
If your kid is one of the ones sitting then you are the suckers who are paying for other kids to play. Move down a division to where your kid is the star and maybe we get the kids who should not be in rep moved back to HL.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 12:43 pmYou ask any AAA coach if he plays his best players the majority of the time and see what he says. Don’t feel bad about it either because even some of the best AAA players will eventually get cut too whether it be OHL, World Junior or NHL.
