Can a AAA cut a player mid season to make room for a Junior player that quits his team?
I get a player being cut for not preforming at a aaa level or a disruptive kid or parent.
But was if a junior player quits his team and becomes available. Can said coach just cut a player to pick up a junior player?
And if yes. Being Minor hockey is there compensation to the kid. Repayment of gear/hotels/league fees …?
I have never heard of this in all my years my kids playing AAA.
Anybody have this happen to their kid?

Can a player be moved up to AAA mid-season if they didn't make it initially? Also, what are the associated fees or costs for making that transition? My son is interested in playing AAA.
Re: Can a AAA coach cut a player mid season?
I doubt they could be put on a team now. If you can find out where coaches are having skates for next year see if you can attend those.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 7:53 am Can a player be moved up to AAA mid-season if they didn't make it initially? I did that before this season started many times and went to many birthday skates and no AAA team. WHY? Why they don’t want him?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:28 amI doubt they could be put on a team now. Honest coaches would have told you why they didn’t make it. Unfortunately some may not be that honest.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:37 amI did that before this season started many times and went to many birthday skates and no AAA team. WHY? Re: Can a AAA coach cut a player mid season?
Yes, this is a thing and happens time to time in U18 AAA. As for compensation, I am not sure - I would assume every organization/team has different rules. I would assume yes, just inquire from within... won't get much help here.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 8:55 am Looking for information/rules

In the GTHL a team cannot release a player beyond Nov 15 without the family agreeing to a release.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 8:55 am Looking for information/rules

If the family wants out or agrees to a release then the player can be released.
As for compensation, the family should be getting pro-rated fees from both the org and the team fees.

They can for discipline reasons. Other than that I agreeGuest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 12:17 pmIn the GTHL a team cannot release a player beyond Nov 15 without the family agreeing to a release.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 8:55 am Looking for information/rules

Re: Can a AAA coach cut a player mid season?
My son was cut right before the season started, he had been on the team the year before and was actively practicing with them during the summer but just before the season started he was cut and no real reason was provided. All I can really say is that I guess they found someone they thought was a better fit or maybe it wasn’t a player cut it was a parent cut, because that happens too. I will be honest, I was emailing the coach and speaking with him at the rink and speaking to the parents poorly about the coach regarding ice time.
