Greyhounds Eliminated from OHL Playoffs After Rough Start in Windsor
The Soo Greyhounds’ playoff run ends with a heartbreaking loss to the Windsor Spitfires. A disastrous first period, punctuated by penalty trouble and a 6-1 deficit, proved insurmountable. While the Hounds showed resilience, battling back to make it a 7-4 game, the early hole was too deep. This raises some critical questions for discussion. Was the Greyhounds' lack of discipline a sign of playoff inexperience or simply a bad night? How much blame falls on special teams versus even-strength play? The Spitfires' power play was lethal, converting 6 of 9 opportunities. Is this sustainable for Windsor in later rounds? Conversely, can the Hounds build on the character they showed in the latter half of the game to find success next season? Looking ahead, this series could be a preview of things to come in the OHL. Windsor’s potent offense looks poised for a deep run. I predict they will reach the conference finals, at least. But is their defense a concern? How will they fare against teams with stronger penalty kills? For the Greyhounds, the offseason will be a time for reflection and development. What key areas do they need to address to become contenders next year? Your thoughts and insights are appreciated.
