What you are saying is 100% true. Board members of associations should be finding, attracting, developing and keeping good coaches.

In reality, they are/should be picking the best candidate who applied. I'm not sure how involved you are with your association but I can tell you it's very difficult these days getting volunteers and you will take anyone who can pass the VSC and take the HC training.

Throughout the year, board members should be engaging with parents/coaches/kids/volunteers, etc to see if there are other coaching options out there and available. The good coaches don't usually move organizations once they find a good one.

With open borders, you may stumble upon some new coaches but be wary of why they are moving organizations.

At the end of the day, if you run an association that people want to come to, you will find good coaches easily.

This is exactly how it is executed with AMHA. Our Board is out there, watching games, talking to parents, talking to coaches, talking to kids, recruiting the next wave of volunteers that our true leaders in making Tigers GREAT as Tony would say. Coach interview list is extensive to ensure we set every tyke, house league and Rep team for an incredible minor hockey experience that will include championships at the Rep level.

This is the biggest crock of shyte I've ever heard. The only the board members are doing, is having expensive dinners on the parents' dime.

I will tell you how this works .. we get our teams motivated in the back half of this year to win championships. We win championships, coupled with our excellent coaches, there will be more than enough demand for our association in 25/26

Dude, give it a rest. We get it, you are involved heavily with the association and are blind to see the reality of the situation. You gotta take a step back and understand why you association is losing/going to lose players and why you are not as successful as you think you are.

A good association starts right at the top with the president, setting the tone and finding and developing good people around them which will trickle down to your convenors and coaches.

I don't really care about win/loss records. It's all about creating an atmosphere where everyone (players and parents) wants to come to the rink. It's all about developing players and being competitive.

We only had one member vote against, and as a show of our unity and inclusivity we will force their child to play house league next year.

Yes, BB is the highest form of competitive hockey that any child should be playing. Kids who are able to play at a super high level of any sport should really be asking their parents to look in the mirror. That’s like telling your child you have the expectation they will go to university and become something like a lawyer, a doctor or god forbid a business owner. We need to show our players it’s ok to be a B player, and to enjoy a simple happy life. This is the way. Too much ice time and excessive coaching in hockey is toxic.

Which association ? It would make most sense for association to just fold surrender ice time to NMHA. There isn’t anything of value that the association does.
