What are the budgets like for these caring individuals?Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 9:19 amIt is really not about caring about your kid more, this does not justify anything. It is about fairness and the understanding that you have a responsibility as a coach to develop ALL the kids equally and to the best of your ability. If you signed up for this position all the while having an alternative motive ( your kid) then that is all that really needs to be said about your character isn’t it?Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 8:46 am Is this really a point of discussion. Every parent loves their kid and will do whatever it takes for their kid to be successful. Do any of you think in a million years your kid playing for a parent coach will care more about your son than their own family.
I am not saying don’t play for a parent coach but just be aware of the reality. If you’re a hockey guy and your son plays hockey you will want to coach them and will as long as possible despite people advising otherwise. All three parent coaches are hockey guys and powerful in their orgs. One actually runs an ohl team. I would say none are leaving anytime soon.
A lot of these guys honestly believe they are doing you a favour b/c they “ know so much about hockey” ….the self deception and internal justification is strong in these type of people!
2011 AAA

Re: 2011 AAA
The generally accepted conduct is if you are a parent coach you do not take any compensation, bear in mind this is for a somewhat reasonable person. However there appears to be some that are in fact taking compensation, again a very special type of person does this…. One that perceives themself as a righteous hockey god. The values you want your kid to learn and proceed life with.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 10:26 amWhat are the budgets like for these caring individuals?Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 9:19 amIt is really not about caring about your kid more, this does not justify anything. Re: 2011 AAA
If there is a coaching cost for a parent coach and a non parent bench, that is fair. When there is a high coaching cost on an entire parent bench the budget that is questionable
Re: 2011 AAA
MR coach takes cost that equal his sons portion of the budget -$7kGuest wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 12:04 pm If there is a coaching cost for a parent coach and a non parent bench, that is fair. When there is a high coaching cost on an entire parent bench the budget that is questionable
TYN coach takes 40k for a parent bench - $8500
TM coach doesn’t take anything - budget is $6000
Re: 2011 AAA

Why are all the other parent coaches, not full parent staff taking less money ?
Does anyone question this, or is everyone naive ?
Does the organization know about this ?
Re: 2011 AAA
And Czech beat Pro Hockey and lost 2x to TE. Go figure, it's all irrelevant.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 10:07 pmlol
The pro hockey team slapped Latvia 15-2 and Latvia beat Toronto elite 8-4. So yeah all the Goals against were 100% elite lol
Re: 2011 AAA
If your kid is playing AAA and they are 2011 they shouldn’t be on a parent coaches team. Period. Regardless of how great a coach is there will always be a bias. I am curious to see how the parent coach teams do this year. Parent coaches are fine until atom.
