Kids should play where they want, not where they are forced. I wonder how tyrant coaches in the OMHA would fare when their players are allowed to play elsewhere instead of being forced to play for teams, they just don't want to play for.
There should have never been borders in the first place. It’s ridiculous. Why should an association be able to hold players hostage.
AMEN!!!!!! It's pathetic really, adults exerting their will on children to prove some sort of Neanderthalic point. They wonder why people go through "address changes" and fake divorces to leave centers and go elsewhere.
It works for girls hockey.

You should be free to play where you want.
I disagree. I don’t think it “works for girls hockey”. Girls hockey is full of 1-2 powerhouse rep teams per age group, and a bunch of parents wondering where they’ll end up playing next season, when it’s only November.
Families shouldn’t be forced to have to drive an hour away for their kid to play, because her local teams coach has loaded up with imported talent.

The biggest reason why borders are completely open in girls hockey, it they have a drastically smaller player pool

I'd be ok if you had to tryout for your home centre and if you didn't make it, you could go to another center at the same level. I have 4 OMHA centres closer to me than our "home" rink and our home association treats kids like property. No releases, we own you. OMHA is only worried about keeping marginal centres profitable. Player development is not on the radar. Make friends with your local parent coach or else....

I don't think anyone is saying there shouldn't be a limit on how many imports a team can roster

I think 3-4 NRP spots would be sufficient, not completely open.

Regardless of what they implement.... if anything... would it be implemented for the 2024/2025 season?

I think it will be done for the next season. They moved fast on making U9 full ice, so this could move fast as well. There isnt any IT adjustment that needs to be made. Just announce and its done!

I hope so... then these parents that want out so bad on some of the OMHA teams quickly realize because your kid was on a the top line in the OMHA and then quickly realize they are 3rd liner in the G

maybe some parents don't want out of the OMHA entirely, maybe they just want out of a certain organization or away from a certain coach.
