Is the OHL Becoming Too High Scoring?
Last night saw some thrilling OHL action, but also some eyebrow-raising scorelines. Niagara edging out Barrie 6-5 and even Peterborough needing a shootout after a 4-3 finish against Ottawa. Are we seeing a trend towards higher scoring games in the OHL? Is this good for development? Does it make the game more exciting for fans, or does it devalue defense? I'm curious to hear what others think. Are these high-scoring games a sign of increased offensive talent, a decline in defensive play, or something else entirely? What do coaches and scouts think about this trend? Could we see more shootouts and overtime games this season? Share your thoughts below!
Assadourian's hat trick, including the game-winner, is definitely a highlight, but should we be more concerned with the total goals allowed? Perhaps this is a sign of things to come. I predict we’ll see more players putting up big offensive numbers this year, but also potentially more inflated GAA for goalies. Is this sustainable long-term, or will the pendulum swing back towards tighter defensive battles?
