Does your kid have a hard time making friends? Does he have any friends? You can’t buy social skills.

My kid is at SAC. The catch here is they need to board during the week in Grade 12. Really, the cost is not that bad. Get this though, there is a rink right at the school. Kids play mornings, afternoons and some evenings. No shortage of ice time but also get the social connections and academics. Glass sizes are mostly 16 kids. I think UCC is a similar set up BUT don't have to board for Grade 12. Both not that expensive.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:41 amMy neighbours kid tried to get in 3x’s and couldn’t, had to go to Bylth instead.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:33 am UCC is the perfect blend of strong academics, strong athletics and social connections that set boys up for a lifetime.
No brainer if you can afford it and get in.

What are you going to drop from Grade 9 to Grade 12 for UCC or St Andrews College?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 2:03 pmMy kid is at SAC. Honestly this is such a stupid, privileged opinion. They aren't that expensive, huh? Great to know and glad that's the case for you and your family. Some of us have a different financial situation than you and find most of our extra funds going to our kid's hockey team and league fees. If you wanted to talk about the benefits of the school you're lucky enough to afford without being so flippant about affordability that would be a much more useful and relatable post for folks to read, since that's the point of this thread.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 2:03 pmMy kid is at SAC. AND stop living through your kid!!!!! He’s not that talented, he’s not the next NHL superstar and if you need a private school because he has ADHD or a social anxiety then work on the root of that problem and don’t try a bandaid solution like throwing him in a private school because the classroom is smaller.
Re: Opinions on athletic/hockey-focused private schools?
Wow, the OP was right about the toxicity of this site. Some parent asks others in the youth hockey community about their experiences with private schools and the responses are "no one cares about your kid", "make more money" and "your kid isn't talented"?? Are you all braindead? Do you actually speak to people this way? Think this way? Despicable. No wonder bullying and toxic team culture is so prevalent in this sport. You folks are the problem. Be better. You're raising future citizens.

DUMP! if you want to pay private school dollars and your kids classes is in portables. the city owns sports village its not actually everest school. all an illusion just like their teams and management,Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 2:51 pm Look into Everest, cheapest school, they have lower fees because the entire school is just in a hockey arena, not like an actual established school like St. No names’s, UCC or St. Andrew’s. Your kid won’t get the highest quality education but they will push him through, small classes, good alternative if your kid is a slower learner and wants to play hockey.
