2009 GTHL AAA

Re: 2009 GTHL AAA
Hey guys. My kids dream of AAA his whole life. U16 didn’t pan out but we aren’t discouraged, this actually motivated us to go harder to take his game to the next level. He’s been taking shots, doing drills, and visualizing in game situations since the season ended.
So a question for y’all, we are going to every single tryout we can find in the GTA (including any 1 hour circumference OMHA).
How can my son stand out in these tryouts? He has a shot than can wow people but he’s not as physical. I know AA practically had zero body contact every game, is u18 AAA the same? I know most of these skates are whites vs darks and practically a game. How should he play?
Another questions is do you guys tip the coaches for the practice? Last year each skate was on average $60 per skate. I heard some parents give an extra $40 and round it off to $100 each skate. Is that recommended to make a good impression?

Re: 2009 GTHL AAA
Now is about the time all the AAA coaches are getting tired of all the same old faces at tryouts and you know who you are, running your kid around to every team to make a spot on triple. The problem is even if your kid gets a spot, no guarantee he sees any ice time, especially if he has no experience in AAA.

MV JRC for sale too.

I think your kid probably isn’t good enough to make AAA.
Re: 2009 GTHL AAA
Hey folks, writing this as a proud dad. My son is a freak of nature, basically a hybrid between Connor McDavid and a Greek god. No idea where he got it from, our family is more couch potato than power play. The kid eats protein like it’s oxygen, trains like Rocky, and lives at the rink.
And yet… no AAA calls. Nothing. Crickets. It’s like he’s invisible but shredded. We’re hoping once the current AAA kids get drafted to the O, a spot will open up.
Anyone else going through this? Looking for advice before I start calling scouts myself or sending out clips set to rap music. Thanks!

Just a friendly PSA… there are some teams you shouldn’t even bother trying out for, not because your kid isn’t good enough, but because there are literally no spots. But hey, they’ll still take your money, let you skate around a couple times, maybe give you a wink… then string you along like you’ve got a shot. VK’s and JRC…I see you.
