2023 OHL Draft

Re: 2023 OHL Draft
GTHL with the highest number of kids playing hockey and the most opportunities to train, be seen and get scouted have roughly an equal amount of picks as the OMHA whom people trash.
OMHA seems like the a solid place to play, and maybe some better opportunities to play.
Outside of the super elite players in the G, Seems like the development happens more on the outside.

Population of Ontario is 15 mil.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:31 pmGTHL with the highest number of kids playing hockey and the most opportunities to train, be seen and get scouted have roughly an equal amount of picks as the OMHA whom people trash.

Population of GTA is 7 mil
Population of OMHA cities is roughly 4 mil
And given the OMHA kids playing in the G
You might say that 20 kids in the first 3 rounds OMHA is really good. And maybe it’s better being a big dog on an average team than just another player on a top tier team.
Re: 2023 OHL Draft
1 goalie in top 10 in first round (3rd place G team)
2 more goalies in second round (5th place G team and O)
Not a bad start for goalies.

Re: 2023 OHL Draft
Probably about 7/8 G kids who didn’t go in the first 3 rounds because of school commitments. They would’ve been first round.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:31 pmGTHL with the highest number of kids playing hockey and the most opportunities to train, be seen and get scouted have roughly an equal amount of picks as the OMHA whom people trash.

Re: 2023 OHL Draft
26 vs 20 is not roughly the same. But it is a slightly off year for the G compared to pre-COVID averages.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:36 pmPopulation of Ontario is 15 mil.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:31 pmGTHL with the highest number of kids playing hockey and the most opportunities to train, be seen and get scouted have roughly an equal amount of picks as the OMHA whom people trash.

And for the record, I don’t care where they come from or populations. When it comes to the draft, what matters is where they are now because that is where the players are getting drafted. You don’t hear of players going to the O.

So WM of TM is going to the US program but was still drafted?
And who is committed to the Schools and why wouldn’t they get drafted?
How does that work?

London will try to get him to report or convince him to come post draft year or draft yearGuest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 11:26 pmQuestion:Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 11:09 pm26 vs 20 is not roughly the same. Its what Mississauga tried to do with Jack Hughes when they took him 8th overall in 2017
Its not really committed to school since they cant commit til August, but its more so people who have told ohl teams that they plan on going the ncaa route
Lane (Marlboros) Katzin (Marlboros) Stark (Marlboros) all fell because they told the ohl that they probably plan on going ncaa
You see a lot of Americans get drafted who will never play in the O in the later rounds such as JM drafted by Kitchener CT and WH drafted by saginaw
Ottawa picked AB and CM (Chicago mission) just to hold their rights if they switch their mind
London (Hagens (top 2025 guy underage at the u18s) etc

Or 20 kids from the 10 teams of the OMHA and 26 kids from the 13 team GTHL, so basically equal...Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:36 pmPopulation of Ontario is 15 mil.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:31 pmGTHL with the highest number of kids playing hockey and the most opportunities to train, be seen and get scouted have roughly an equal amount of picks as the OMHA whom people trash.
