Anyone who understands U18 knows until Jr A and Jr B teams finalized that no one knows.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 6:41 pm So what's the verdict? How is the new U18AAA league looking? Are the teams getting quality players at tryouts? Updates?

So you're avoiding the question.
What talent is there now? Lots of releases already done.
Looks like you're new to it.

Most CCHL teams have tons of cuts to make. lots of kids dropped back in from OHL camps. From what I have heard...overcommitments are high and teams in the CC will have hard decisions because of their signing kids No names nilly

Hearing Myers had 55-60 at tryouts, 67's over 40 and UCC 25-30. OVT and Wild both struggling to get players. Still players to filter down from Jr teams. Also hear some programs trying to intimidate players to committ early instead of playing Jr B, AAA groups obviously do not understand U18 different than younger groups, players have more options. Also lots of complaints about # of away tournaments.

The number of players is an importsnt factor, but even more important is the quality of players. I think that HEO should have delayed getting rid of the CCHL run U18AAA, and looked at ways of improving player development at the AA level so that the players would be better prepared to make the jump.

Actually it's not far off. I have spoken with 2 CCHL coaches who admitted they signed players they hadn't seen play. They had others attend camp who they hadn't seen play either. Will they release a player who they signed and lose one of their 40 cards??
Re: Ottawa U18 2022/23 Season
Players are showing up (many as cuts from NAHL camps) from the U.S and the advisors are working them in by (i am guessing) paying a premium (I am being generous). There are already kids who have asked for release or been released who had signed contracts. More of this will happen. There are a lot of US kids wanting to come north to play CCHL because it is actually cheaper and better than Premier or NA3Hl.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 8:57 amGuest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 6:41 amWhat an uninformed commentGuest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 12:10 amMost CCHL teams have tons of cuts to make. lots of kids dropped back in from OHL camps. It is Junior hockey, nothing new being said on here. I think the uninformed cut had more to do with the "tons of cuts" to be made, most only have a fewGuest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 9:16 amPlayers are showing up (many as cuts from NAHL camps) from the U.S and the advisors are working them in by (i am guessing) paying a premium (I am being generous).
