Our coach is poaching select kids from our winter team to play on his summer team and using his authority and power as a AAA coach to make friends and influence people. He wants nothing to do with the kids or development. He wants to inflate his ego and social value, and it’s working. All these egomaniac dads are eating out of his hand.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:20 pm The key here is the Boards of these minor hockey organizations. Budgets of a AAA team should be X and at 5% index to say a AA team .. 5% index to an A team etc. All budgets, not for profit, volunteer based, minimal swag, org discounted ice, x hours of ice in a year. You get the idea. After costs, clear outline of how team operates with ice time and development. Clearly leadership has taken hockey to have to uncompetitive divisions, misaligned team budgets across organizations and even within a single organization, players freedom to do extra skates, promotion of spring/summer hockey. This is all leading to extra costs and inconsistent development across minor hockey. This needs to change and will!

I am wondering if the reason Coaches are leaving because of the Brick Tournament.

Brah, there's no DEI policy for minor hockey coaches. Even if there were, it wouldn't make any sense.
You realize that technically there is no "boys" hockey right. Woild that mean that 50% of coaches should automatically be female because it's a co-ed organization?
Then you would have the completely illegal and non inclusive "female" hockey, which literally bans players based on their Not Allowed. Why does it go only one way, and is acceptable? Is this archaic thinking from 25 years ago brah?
Re: Coaches leaving game in droves
Not sure where you live, but all the associations near me are getting older and the people in charge are staying longer than their 2 year terms because they can't attract anyone younger to take over as no one wants to deal with the BS.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:20 pm The key here is the Boards of these minor hockey organizations. Also, yes, we always get coaches because there are parents that step up to ensure that their kids will play but that doesn't mean you are getting the best coaches. You are getting people who don't want to see their kids miss a season of hockey, doesn't make them qualified to coach or make them a good coach.
It's true that costs are rising and getting out of control but as long as there's 17 parents willing to pay that price, then what's the incentive for boards to try to cut costs. At the house league level, cutting costs to keep the game affordable is the name of the game but even those costs are getting out of control.

Not sure what kind of voodoo spell check happened, but this should have read...which literally bans players based on their Not Allowed.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:07 am
