Best point of view yet. To add, your kid may get more eyeballs as a top contributor on a 5-20 team than as a benchwarmer on a super team.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:49 pm Tired debate.
Top 4 teams in the province at AAA are almost always from the GTHL at every age group. Teams 5-20 are all very comparable and come from all leagues, on the rare occasion you get a team that can upset the apple cart. Does this mean 5-20 are bad? Nope. Those top 4 teams have players from all over the place on their teams, they compete with anyone in the world. It’s just an insane level that few can attain and it’s known that they will be at that level.
So is the GTHL better, yes, if you play on one of those team. Not worth it if you are not.

You couldn't create "super teams" in OMHA, only the GTHL.
over the next two - three years there will be a big shift.

Re: Gthl vs Omha
That is a BS statement, I have watched QRD, BC, PP and WW destroy top GTHL teams in many age groups over the years. The top talent in the GTA is divided into 2-4 teams per age group, then there are middle pack teams that would be very competitive in the OMHA, and then bottom feeders like the TRW that get pounded by OMHA mid-pack teams. Our talent is spread across an entire province and we were “owned” by one centre until this year. People went to the G because corrupt teams made it easy to fake an address or paid for tuition at a private school. It was the only way to get away if you were in a garbage situation. With open borders, the game has changed. GTA area teams will suffer until they realize the grass isn’t always greener…Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 6:12 pmNot one OMHA team is ranked in the top 3 in any age group. So yes places like Toronto Vaughan Mississauga will have way better athletes and coaches to choose from.

Sounds like your kid wasn't good enough to play in the G. 6 of the top 10 picks last night were from the G. 2 were from the OMHA. It ain't close.
Re: Gthl vs Omha
Your little ankle burner must play AA. If he played AAA you'd know that 2015 WW beat JRC twice this season! Thats why they got the #1 ranking. And dont get anyone started on the bottom feeder G teams - my mid pack girls team could beat those jokes.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 10:43 pmWW never beat the Marlies once! Other than JRC, DMF, and Marlies - the top half omha teams pumped the rest of the bottom feeder gthl teams. Likely why their coaches r begging omha boys to join - they couldnt develop their own duds.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 1:40 pm2015 isn't even real hockey yet so no, it doesn't.
2015 WW also play in a weak OMHA league. The one time they played the Marlies they got pumped 4-2.
Soooo ya, not good.
Also got their asses lit up 5-0 by JRC.
Not ready for prime time.
Re: Gthl vs Omha
My son was just on the MB AA championship team, he can play at AAA level. They just swept the floor with the other team and won the league for the fifth time. Should he go GTHL AAA or go straight to junior? If you go on livebarn and watch last nights game, you’ll see these guys are all at that AAA level.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 1:46 pmYour little ankle burner must play AA. 2015? Aren’t they still in diapers and booster seats? Let me guess, you still tie their skates.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 1:46 pmYour little ankle burner must play AA. Re: Gthl vs Omha
Not only did they get crushed by the Marlies, the 2015 WW got their asses ravaged by Little Caesars 3 times this year, losing in blowouts. Their ranking was high because they play in a garbage league.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 5:05 pm2015? Aren’t they still in diapers and booster seats? This idiot definitely tire his kids skates and doesn't realize his little turd will be in AA by the time he's 12.
87 players from the G were drafted into the OHL.
81 Americans
61 OMHA
37 Alliance
