True but only for the AA East loop. AA west is watered down with too many teams. Pretty much holds for all age groups.
On the other hand a reason to stay with AAA Omha is to get visibility at AAA tournaments. Assuming your kid is an impact maker he will stand out and coaches will call. But those same coaches won’t be watching AA games.
Just speaking from experience...the west is generally the stronger more competitive division, even if the bottom 2-3 teams are A quality. On the whole it's typically stronger than the East.
If you believe that GTHL AA is more competitive than OMHA AAA then long run development is potentially better in GTHL. Obviously would depend on factors like coaching etc. If you live on the outskirts of Toronto I'd get in the G. It's better.
This ^^ two good points and advice. I second this.
GTHL AA U12 champions Mississauga Beast beat U12 Kingston 4-1 in exhibition in Sept. GTHL AA is superior to top OMHA.
I guess the reading comprehension in the G isn't that great. Kingston won 4-1.
Stay in AAA OMHA if a good AAA centre like Barrie or YSE. My son plays GTHL AA and I know what OMHA AAA is like, don't let someone tell you that AA teams will beat AAA teams in the OMHA unless it's a bottom OMHA AAA team
A top OMHA AAA team yes
A top GTHL AA yes
Bottom OMHA AAA and Bottom GTHL AA is the no man’s land of hockey. Unless your kid is a stud you will get stuck there with limited options to move up

Mississauga Beast AA beat Kingston a top OMHA AAA team 4-2 this year when they played. Case closed.

Kingston is one of the worst AAA organizations in Ontario. Have any AA teams beat a Barrie, Oakville or London AAA team? This thread is laughable. If your kid is any good you wouldn’t be playing AA.

Laughable is anyone who thinks anything like this matters before U14. Good luck.
