Top line are three kids who have been leading their teams for years JC, TL, MH

2nd line- hand picked by JB, best friends son GP, AH and LG- top players

3rd line-2 Brick kids and a sandpaper kid

Defence is outstanding. Top 2 would be two of the best in the league for any team not named JRC.

Watch out now, TM will have their pick of kids. All the other top kids want on that team. Book it
Line 1) is solid. Overrated
Line 2) is ok. Maybe one kid
Line 3) is not ok, hence 2012 call ups played more than the regulars. Which call ups

D) the best D in the league, the rest can leave. He’s gone next season
Sour TYN parent here. Let’s face the facts here you could have called up the whole 2012 TM team and would have beat you…What a loser you are!!!

Lol. The 2012 TM is a mess! They’re blowing up again. One legit player on the roster. DD has coached well and to have his team this far deserves respect. The only loser is those knocking it.
Most “coaches” in the GTHL are glorified recruiters. They develop nothing. They rob each bottom team of good talent to replace kids every year. TM is just a jersey. By U16, 75% of the roster will be totally different. Lol. Maybe more.

Go to the 2012 thread and talk your bs. This thread is dedicated to the complete embarrassment collapse of VK by getting swept by the Nats. It was like an 18 wheeler going off the cliff.

The kids that grow first, have the advantage of more than 25 physiological changes that result in superior , strength, speed, stamina and coordination (only to name a few). This advantage leads to an increased confidence from social-identity to self-identity. True or not true....the early growers falsely believe (and their parents) they are the MVP and thus they practice and play hard given all the attention around them. 99% of coaches miss- identify this (due to lack of education) and think these are kids that "compete' hard etc.. They do compete hard but not for the reasons the coach believes, but rather the fake environment that has been created around them!

If we have coaches that are more educated in adolescence growth and development will will end up with better talent identification and much superior training environments for the kids!
It's true, but life isn't fair and you can call it a "fake environment" but the reality is GTHL is a "win now" system with single-season rosters. Rosters signed in April for a season starting in October and next season teams determined in December/January. If your kid is not ready to contribute now, then he doesn't get to play right now. This will be the first time the 2011 group has April card signings - what's the guess on how many decommits by the time season starts?
I would say that there is no reason to keep kids life "unfair" if there are changes that make it better! They are ALL ready to contribute, the coaches just don't know how to make it so! So would it not be better to fix the coaching issue?
Yes, it would be better, but how do you fix it? For a paid coach, it's a job and winning promotes his school. Why gamble on someone who won't help him win now? For parent coach, is there a reason to develop kids that are not your own? No, so recruit to cover your own kid's limitations and that means kids who can help win now not next year. Eventually all systems self-correct based on what is rewarded - today the winning formula is recruiting 2 good lines and filling a 3rd line that is willing to put up money for the other 2 lines to play. Why put effort into developing a kid who probably won't be on your team next season anyways?

This is awesome, you have encapsulated the dilemma perfectly! IMHO the fix lies with the GTHL and creating a hierarchy for coaches by hiring a "Head of player development" that ALL coaches report to! As a coach if you fail to follow the "new development model", you don't coach in the G you are fired.
Results are better development for the kids and better development of National stars for Canada!

I agree with you but this is wishful thinking. It will never happen. Minor hockey in Ontario, specifically the G will look much different in 3-5 years.

2023 OHL Draft Rankings - only 14 players from G in top 50. None in top 10.
