I would say that there is no reason to keep kids life "unfair" if there are changes that make it better! They are ALL ready to contribute, the coaches just don't know how to make it so! So would it not be better to fix the coaching issue?
Yes, it would be better, but how do you fix it? For a paid coach, it's a job and winning promotes his school. Why gamble on someone who won't help him win now? For parent coach, is there a reason to develop kids that are not your own? No, so recruit to cover your own kid's limitations and that means kids who can help win now not next year. Eventually all systems self-correct based on what is rewarded - today the winning formula is recruiting 2 good lines and filling a 3rd line that is willing to put up money for the other 2 lines to play. Why put effort into developing a kid who probably won't be on your team next season anyways?
This is awesome, you have encapsulated the dilemma perfectly! IMHO the fix lies with the GTHL and creating a hierarchy for coaches by hiring a "Head of player development" that ALL coaches report to! As a coach if you fail to follow the "new development model", you don't coach in the G you are fired.
Results are better development for the kids and better development of National stars for Canada!
I agree with you but this is wishful thinking. It will never happen. Minor hockey in Ontario, specifically the G will look much different in 3-5 years.
The journey of a 1000 miles begins with the first step. Yes, you are right it will take time!
2023 OHL Draft Rankings - only 14 players from G in top 50. None in top 10.
Moore is from the G. Regardless, your point is valid.

There’s 2 TM in the top 10 alone. Stop looking at the free rankings that were put online in November you cheapskate. RR is not #1 after dealing the bed at the OHL cup.

It’s going to continue to get worse for the gthl because nobody can afford to live and play here. Omha teams will benefit from this. I can see the GTHL becoming an 8 team league. Better kids and filter out all the crap

If the rumours are true VK sounds like they might have a pretty good team.

Moore is CS player and last year the top pick was also CS player.

Just saying, I know we love to bash the 18 Wheeler but maybe this guy will change the loop.

OMHA hockey sucks. 3x U16 OHL Cup wins in the past 20 years.

Better than Alliance which has 0.

The G is the one and only KING.

Compared to this year
F >>

G <<

Will dominate the regular season again and longer playoff series will help them.
