There were multiple kids on the ice who can barely skate. The massive kid in the middle doesn't even move his feet. Dad says it's a top level team like we're all blind.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:42 pm This is absolutely nuts.
What TEAM SPECIFICALLY was he playing with? It looked like U9 House League?
the kid looks like he can play hockey, why not just put him with kids his own age and see how he does? What's the problem?
2018 Prodigy?

Re: 2018 Prodigy?
Its like when there is a handicapped kid on the basketball court and everyone just lets them shoot and "pretends" to play defense. That's what it looked like. There is no way they were above house league / Select level.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:49 pmThere were multiple kids on the ice who can barely skate. If he plays with kids his own age he'll get exposed. I've seen the kid in person, he's not a great skater even for his own age.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:42 pm This is absolutely nuts.

Even the video with the bigger kids is sped up. The one kid he skates past starts turning and falls down and obviously can't skate. I don't even think this was house league level. What a joke
Re: 2018 Prodigy?
I've watched the videos. Kid was playing House League D. I know because my kid looked like the other kids out there. Can barely skate because it's their first year of skating. Second, you can tell the most recent video of him in a game is sped up if you look at the goalie. Goalies don't move from side to side like that. I have a goalie kid. No need to even look at the skaters. When I saw the goalie move, it's clear it was sped up. I don't get the end goal. I always thought it was to get your kid on the best team possible. What does one accomplish by playing them against the lowest level of House League? Anyway, I know dad is going to respond as himself, as some anon fan, as another anon fan. But advice to dad if you want to make it believable, maybe slow it down right before the actual goal, because it's super obivous when you see the kid goalie jerk from side to side. Others have given you life tips, but I give you editing tips as a goalie parent. God speed.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:56 pmIf he plays with kids his own age he'll get exposed. Re: 2018 Prodigy?
Fair point. I read one of his comments that he's always playing up. Like buddy, if I stuck my 9 year old AAA player in U11 House League D, he would look pretty elite. Anyway. It's just us other parents shaking our heads at the absolute absurdity. It's a good reminder to never go down this route.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 11:29 pmGuys, the dad is out to lunch. You have no idea how ridiculous at this age you are being. It’s like saying he is likely gonna fly an F16 in a few years because he built a tidy paper airplane! You will be embarrassed at how ridiculous you will look when you and your son are watching the draft in years to come on the couch togetherGuest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 11:36 pmFair point. Re: 2018 Prodigy?
Agreed. Like the person said earlier, no point saying anything. People tried to help and the dad took offense. Unfortunately the poor kid will be laughed at in 5 years only because of his dad. If daddy just shut up and let his kid play, wouldn't have been the case. Parents are always the issue with minor hockey and the kids end up losing out. This is coming from a parent with much older top end AAA players. Been there done that and this guy is hurting his kid. Post if you want but the commentary is ridiculous. The kid is really good for his age but he is definitely skating way more than other kids and some probably haven't even started playing yet. So many variables like how the kid grows, how will he respond to contact, how does he play under pressure and with real forecheckers, kids at this age have no clue how to play proper D so how will he do against real defensemen etc.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 12:15 amYou have no idea how ridiculous at this age you are being. To all parents with younger players, take it from someone who has been there, keep a low profile until it matters. Don't post on social media with ridiculous commentary saying "unbelievable talent" or things along those lines. Just let them develop and if he's good, prove it when it matters. Your kid will thank you. Even if he's the best player, avoid the temptation to let the world know because people will pray for your downfall. Minor hockey is a dark place unfortunately.
I truly hope this kid goes on to do amazing things and he just might but at this point, it's way too early to discuss. Best of luck kiddo. Definitely rooting for you.
Re: 2018 Prodigy?
Most kids this age can’t raise the puck! He is too shelving and going bar down. Most kids this age can’t backwards skate! He can do backwards crossovers and flawless pivots. His training has been impressive because he is so driven.
Re: 2018 Prodigy?
I met this kid and his dad in Brantford some time ago. The kid was unreal plain and simple. My son and I just sat and watched in awe, instead of skating ourselves. I've been around the game my entire life as has the rest of my family, I have never seen anything like that. That being said a future is never predictable but what I saw was something special. The dad was also a really nice guy. Stop casting judgment and enjoy watching the talent. I sure do.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 12:15 amYou have no idea how ridiculous at this age you are being.
