OHF Opening borders??
Re: OHF Opening borders??
Re: OHF Opening borders??
When will coaching announcements be made?
Associations will be able to announce their coaching staffs for the next season on February 15.

Does anyone really think this will change anything?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 2:43 pmWhen will coaching announcements be made?

The rule was Jan 15 and everyone knew before that date who the coaches were going to be.
The key is the org can't announce the coach. Can't list name or contact info, can confirm who may be coaching.
There is no rule in a coach claiming he is the coach for next season and the org 'denying' to comment on it.
Re: OHF Opening borders??
There are two groups of people in here.
AAA\AA - Open borders woth unlimited imports needed recruit to compete.
A and below - Need restrictions so there is still enough ice time and space left for the locals to be able to play.
Neither of these are wrong, but it's worth pointing out the drastic difference. A\B\BB teams cannot be heavily recruiting without impacting LL\HL teams space. You also cannot make new rep teams so space is limited. B\BB kids are a dime a dozen, no need to recruit when locals are right there and should be supporting local anyway. Orgs will 100% be limiting these teams in some way.

Re: OHF Opening borders??
OHF was pushing this through no matter what. Alliance members voted against this and would imagine OMHA would have too if they allowed their members to have a say.
OHF is worried about losing u9 half ice players to unsanctioned hockey and that's the main reason this is happening. They are also tired of processing paperwork to transfer players and now going to focus on enforcement of tampering rules, good luck with that!

Let’s keep track of how many organizations continue to limit movement and how many do what’s right for the kids
Re: OHF Opening borders??
It's going to be interesting next season. I doubt there will be much lateral movement. I'm not sure if a B kid from one town will go to another town to play at the same level. It will be nice to have that option but in the end, I think most kids want to play with their friends as long as the coach isn't a jerk and the organization runs itself properly. The real movement will be kids playing at the proper level. B kids can now go and play AA and hopefully, those that get cut from AA/A will work their way back to the B centers. The theory is that all kids will be able to find their level and play at it. Next year will be crazy with Orgs trying to figure it out and parents testing the waters. This is going to take 3-4 years to fully sort it self out, but if kids can move up and down levels and play where they can develop the best it will be a win for Hockey in Ontario. There are two groups of people in here.
