There are two groups of people in here.
AAA\AA - Open borders woth unlimited imports needed recruit to compete.

A and below - Need restrictions so there is still enough ice time and space left for the locals to be able to play.

Neither of these are wrong, but it's worth pointing out the drastic difference. A\B\BB teams cannot be heavily recruiting without impacting LL\HL teams space. You also cannot make new rep teams so space is limited. B\BB kids are a dime a dozen, no need to recruit when locals are right there and should be supporting local anyway. Orgs will 100% be limiting these teams in some way.
It's going to be interesting next season. I doubt there will be much lateral movement. I'm not sure if a B kid from one town will go to another town to play at the same level. It will be nice to have that option but in the end, I think most kids want to play with their friends as long as the coach isn't a jerk and the organization runs itself properly. The real movement will be kids playing at the proper level. B kids can now go and play AA and hopefully, those that get cut from AA/A will work their way back to the B centers. The theory is that all kids will be able to find their level and play at it. Next year will be crazy with Orgs trying to figure it out and parents testing the waters. This is going to take 3-4 years to fully sort it self out, but if kids can move up and down levels and play where they can develop the best it will be a win for Hockey in Ontario.
Amen, Let’s do what’s right for the kids!

Good on them. How will it work playing top GTHL teams as part of the regular schedule?
Sounds like an organizing that is taking a proactive approach and is accepting change. Good on Oakville!
Could not agree more. Well played Oakville. everyone else needs to catch up to you now
Poster children for new age hockey. Way to go Oakville. They are officially the leader.
Let’s keep track of how many organizations continue to limit movement and how many do what’s right for the kids
I can see Burlington, Milton, Missisauga top kids moving to Oakville only for the reason to stay local and be part of elite team that will
Play in the G.

The end game for Oakville is to carve out AAA/AA and maybe A and join the G. No need to stay in OMHA any more. BB and houseleague can be set up under a different structure (similar to Burling Eagles and Burlington Bulldogs)

Oakville statement is vague in some areas. It will be interesting to see if they (and other associations) will keep their own import limits, particularly below AAA.

Read Oakvilles announcement very carefully. They are great at distorting the truth. First off, the aren't talking to the G, the OHF is. If the GTHL doesn't agree to let Oakville join then it won't happen. Oakville has nothing to do with it. They tried it 10 years ago and the OMHA wouldn't let them leave. Oakville is a not for profit organization. You think the G wants a team that charges half to be a part of the league? You think the Marlies, Nat's, Vaughan or JRC will agree to it?

Look at almost everything else they talk about. These are all things organizations should have been doing. Good on them for talking about making changes but they only decided to do it because of the announcement. This is still the same organization that until today would tell you if you asked for a release "no", your children were their property.

For what it's worth, wait a year and see if they actually do any of what they said.

Let’s all be positive - this is a new day for kids sport in Ontario

Oakville had to come out fast because they know lot of their families will want to go to the G now. Less commute to games and have teams in Mississauga to choose from
