Watch the kids who have quietly been working and playing Baseball, soccer , lacrosse etc come winter. For a already deep age group it's about to get a lot deeper and those superstar 5/6/7 year olds are in for a reality check as the game becomes tougher and more technical.

Going to be some real butt hurt parents this year

Yes!!! 👏 work on becoming a well rounded athlete if you really want to get ahead. Don’t burn out playing year round hockey at 8 years old. Might get an edge temporarily but it’s about the long game.
A lot of butt kissing happens during the spring season. Little jonny’s coach is likely on the bench of a spring team, most people won’t give their kid a break because they’ll miss the opportunity to kiss some off season rump.

The US teams are stronger because they take the best players available, not those with the deepest pockets…
That is AAA hockey in Ont, It’s rarely about how good you are it’s about who you know.
You sound bitter that your kid wasn’t good enough

Just making the move to AAA with my kid .. how much should I budget for a season of AAA, going to Brick and a 'reasonable' amount of extra skates? Getting worried I am over my head.

The kids who have been asked to tryout for brick were approached a long time ago, invitations have been sent, rsvps received. Would you say keeping him on the ice before tryouts is essential or the break is more important

I would budget $10K for the season, including Brick.

No, he plays. Just a parent who would prefer teams to be picked based on skill, not relationship

We are roughly 3500 of fees in OMHA, throw in a few extra skates, tournaments and driving likely $10K for a season. Brick is a whole different beast. A friend whose son played last year said close to $15K with all the hotels, pre tournament tournaments and skates… Good exposure but not a necessity.
