2016 MD OMHA
Re: 2016 MD OMHA
With open borders, anything changing?
Will Burlington kids go to Oakville program to play?

Teams that were assholes to parents that left and played KSL or other places can suck it. Wonder how much they are crying now. Hope they feel good about their loyalty to a shit product now.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:32 pm With open borders, anything changing?

Your post doesn’t make any sense. Not sure how your post to the one you replied is even relevant. What does open borders have to do with this.

Why would they? Burlington runs a good, if not better, program than Oakville. Oakville will just attract the crazy parents whose child wasn't good enough to make a AAA team in the GTHL, simply because they were the first out of the gate with their open borders messaging (which is very contradictory to everything they've preached in the past).
Re: 2016 MD OMHA
Our home centre parents all stayed where they were because they thought it would guarantee them a place on the AA team, and they actively bullied the parents that left. Now their kids are not only behind in development but now there was no advantage to staying there and living through it.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:39 pmTeams that were assholes to parents that left and played KSL or other places can suck it. Re: 2016 MD OMHA
It's the small town hockey that will suffer.
Aka Barrie kids who get cut coming to Orillia to take the spots that would've been filled by local kids.

Re: 2016 MD OMHA
Neither Barrie or Orillia are 'small towns'. If your kid doesn't make AAA in either of those places, they can still play AA, A, etc.. and stay in their home town. Both Barrie and Orillia need stronger AAA teams at the younger age groups anyway, no boarders should help with that...

Orillia has 31k people. That's a small town.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 10:06 am Neither Barrie or Orillia are 'small towns'. No one said Barrie was a small town.
The new ruling means open borders for ALL rep levels. Meaning out of towners can come to Orillia and take up AA and A spots. And Orillia doesn't have a AAA team - North Central pulls from them and 7/8 other centres.
