Rumour has it London still won’t allow out of area residents.
EMC will lose the best kids at age groups where the coaching is stronger in London, and visaversa. No one wants to leave home organization but everyone wants to be part of the best program available to them
Not surprised if LJK was to pull that stunt.
They’ll never unite. There are a lot more people voicing their displeasure at EMC since this announcement was made. If London played their cards right, they could get a lot of EMC players to jump over. So many already drove right through or by London anyhow.
Let’s create a healthy conversation around this. People want development, coaching will matter. No need to rip either organization apart. If both organizations embrace the new era of hockey it will come down to who offers the best coaching and development opportunities for players. The days of using coaching to social climb and putting yourself before the team are gone. Take a look at the coaches for each age group and you’ll see where the best players will want to be.

This will root out the problems of bad coaches, no development programs and poorly run associations/boards who are making poor decisions. You want to get on the board and pick ya unqualified buddies as coaches, knock yourself out. People will see through this crap and take their money elsewhere. Build a program, show what ya get for the money you spend, development model and qualified coaching applicants and mentorship. That will be the associations that win and where parents will spend their money.

LJK will remain the same. They are not progressive in terms of coach selection. It's usually the same coaches year after year and the majority are parents. Open borders will hopefully see the better London kids going to better associations like EMC. This is all about the best product at the best price. Why stay in London when you can drive a few kms to EMC? Better facility, more practice time, better coaching, and only AAA teams.

You just successfully defined why people should leave LJK. Bunch of F%^$ing dino's at the helm that are past their expiration date! Move on folks...you've officially lost your trump card. No longer holding kids hostage to your garbage association combined with arrogance beyond belief and a bank account that deserves CRA review!

Up until now it hasn’t mattered who was coaching because players had to stay. Respectfully, right now LJK has better coaching at the AAA level with the exception of two age groups. Difference between the two organizations is EMC picks coaches before tryouts, whereas LJK only picks the HC, this will benefit players because they can window shop EMC and move to LJK if they don’t like what they see. This is about the kids. Hopefully the kids win!

LJK has voted for open borders within Alliance a few times already, EMC has voted against it. Tells me all I need to know about who is prepared for the new change.

What programs they offer in the spring will tell me all I need to know. A well done is better than a well said

What facilities? EMC utilizes public facilities, the same as LJK. AAA coaching across the two organizations is pretty equal. Some parent coaches with knowledge but some political BS that follows, some solid non-parent coaches, and one or two really good coaches on each end. The difference will be where the relationships within the teams are and how good those teams already are. If one team is much stronger than the other, I could see those few top end kids jumping ship to the other so they can really push those teams to the top. Ages where both are strong likely won't see much jumping around.

Playing all your games at one rink, practicing 95% of the time at the same rink.
Hands down every EMC team is better than LJK teams currently other than 2010.
No one is jumping from EMC to LJK, it will be LJK moving to EMC.
