Not surprised if LJK was to pull that stunt.
They’ll never unite. There are a lot more people voicing their displeasure at EMC since this announcement was made. If London played their cards right, they could get a lot of EMC players to jump over. So many already drove right through or by London anyhow.
Let’s create a healthy conversation around this. People want development, coaching will matter. No need to rip either organization apart. If both organizations embrace the new era of hockey it will come down to who offers the best coaching and development opportunities for players. The days of using coaching to social climb and putting yourself before the team are gone. Take a look at the coaches for each age group and you’ll see where the best players will want to be.
This will root out the problems of bad coaches, no development programs and poorly run associations/boards who are making poor decisions. You want to get on the board and pick ya unqualified buddies as coaches, knock yourself out. People will see through this crap and take their money elsewhere. Build a program, show what ya get for the money you spend, development model and qualified coaching applicants and mentorship. That will be the associations that win and where parents will spend their money.
Up until now it hasn’t mattered who was coaching because players had to stay. Respectfully, right now LJK has better coaching at the AAA level with the exception of two age groups. Difference between the two organizations is EMC picks coaches before tryouts, whereas LJK only picks the HC, this will benefit players because they can window shop EMC and move to LJK if they don’t like what they see. This is about the kids. Hopefully the kids win!
EMC U10 will lose kids to London already in the works
EMC U11 will lose kids to London because of unfair coaching, only win because they only play half the team since u10
LJk U12 will lose a kid to EMC
EMC LJK U13 will lose kids to Chatham shamrock kids backfill
LJK U14 will lose kids to EMC
LJK U15 & 16 to lose to EMC

What kids from U14 would EMC want? Maybe one? And that's a big maybe because none of those U14 kids are highly skilled players.

EMC could use some size. LJK doesn't offer a bunch of skill

No one from U14 is going to EMC. Not one kid has the talent, grit, competitiveness, and IQ to make EMC. London has been riddled with weak coaching, starting in atom and continuing to bantam. All parent coaches, by the way. Politics gone wild. That team needs an unbiased non-parent.

There’s a few players ready to crack that squad. A few players at EMC have seen the game out page them. Without TO they are a mid pack alliance contender at best.

London has not said a word, there is a good chance they stay locked up. This would be a good time for them to adjust their policies to create a stronger program. Eventually EMC and LJK will become one

U14 LJK is not a strong team. They were destroyed by Waterloo 7-1 and barely got past Brantford 3-2. That team does not have AAA skill; it is essentially a strong AA team. Why would EMC want any of those players? Size? Sure, LJK has size, but they're AA players. Size won't win games, as evidenced by their record of 8-7-3 in regular-season play. There are better kids out there that could make that team a lot more competitive. If they get a non-parent next year, perhaps things will change.

Even the best teams have replaceable components at the bottom end, it will be interesting to see how this works without tampering of course
