This last statement is 100% correct!
Absolutely is...relationships and positive experiences are what most players will acquire from the game! Leaving behind a toxic coach and team culture can be the best path for a player/family
You’re missing the point.. it’s easy to call something “toxic” because you just don’t fit in anymore. Parents of kids who plateau tend to look externally for the reason and end up clawing for reasons to blame other people.
It takes a mature person to just say “kid you did great and we love you, and I think you will have more fun playing _______ level” and helping your kid understand that it’s OKAY. AAA hockey isn’t the end all be all and you’re not doing anything for your kids by telling them “it’s the coaches fault”.
Your missing the point. The point in this thread was coach accountability. You have the same bulls$&t mentality which is the root cause of the issue, blame the family, say the kid isn’t good enough. People are hard on coaches, but sometimes it may actually be the coach that is the problem.
Their needs to be two way understanding
Absolutely, but going on a website forum and talking shit does nothing. If the child is good enough.. switch centres because you can do that, problem solved. The bigger problem is MOST parents are too proud to accept the reality of the situation and simply say “this coach sucks” and go around spewing garbage to other parents who smile to your face and then think “their child just isn’t a AAA player anymore”

Why do they need a mentor...the dads on the glass who rotate ends at the end of the period know it all...just like the moms in the stands at WF who yell yet cannot tell you what offside or icing is?
And this applies to every association...not just EMC or LJK
If it is so easy just submit your name in HL to start...work your way up in different age groups and level .....and come back and let everyone know how easy it is to be successful
Hhhhmmm...no spelling mistakes...can't be JB feedback!
Nobody said it was easy...coaching goes beyond winning defining you as "successful". What is success? Winning the SS or Alliance is your litmus test then you are not in this for the right reasons. You are being given the reins from trusting parents to assist in their growth as people and to help prepare them for life lessons...not all about G & A's. Simply being good to kids and supporting with the right words and messages are why you are there...not just to show well in big games and tournaments because of your special teams knowledge because you played a high level of hockey somewhere and now you feel that automatically qualifies you.
A bit more to this position of responsibility than you are affording or recognizing. So maybe...just maybe...you need to recognize what it is that you are truly being selected to do as a COACH and perhaps now and again thank a glass banger for trusting you to coach their kids!
Winning means nothing if your players aren’t developing. Any idiot can coach a group of highly skilled kids to win alliance, it’s about developing a team beyond alliance and off the ice. The missed measurables at EMC, coaching mentor might catch that.
Okay, I hear you goofs talk about “development” and I would love to hear your definition.
If your kid starts slipping.. maybe it’s not all on the coaches. My kid works his ass off outside of the rink and excels on the ice. This is not because his coaches are miracle workers.. this is because my kid WORKS. Coaches see kids for a few hours a week, what are you doing with your kid at home to help them develop? Are you encouraging them to have a good work ethic, eat healthy, shot practices, strength work, actually watch hockey from a systems standpoint, positive attitude?
It’s so easy to say “ahh that coach didn’t develop my kid” when you’re not doing your part and neither is your kid
Winning means nothing, if you’re not learning. Coaching is about leadership, being a good communicator on and off ice. Respectfully, I sounds like the paying people of this business are just asking for accountability for coaches

RD would be heads and shoulders better than JB
Not at all.
Good or bad, JB lives 100% rent free in your head
It would have to be…JB doesn’t like to pay for things. Time for an eviction JB!
If you have the time go onto LJK website and then go to EMC website. Look at the board members and roles. There is one distinct role that EMC has that LJK does not: COACH MENTOR. Drop the mic?
Coach mentor is a meaningless role at EMC. Was hoping JayW would turn it around but it's still the same terrible coaches (with a few exceptions) and the same terrible board. Tell me what the coach mentor ACTUALLY does besides field some interviews and "review" complaints??
Whos coaching? No leaks, except at the 2016 age group. Are there actually going to be meaningful changes?
