Not true. More releases of players with signed contracts than in past years. Some CCHL teams over commited because they wanted a safety net of players depending what happened in September. They wanted to lock kids into their camps and hide them from other teams in case they needed them. They don't care about Junior cards being wastedGuest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:25 amIt is Junior hockey, nothing new being said on here. Actually it's not far off. I have spoken with 2 CCHL coaches who admitted they signed players they hadn't seen play. They had others attend camp who they hadn't seen play either. Will they release a player who they signed and lose one of their 40 cards??

Those 2 leagues aren't close to the CCHL. The CCHL is better than the NCDC which is also better than those 2 leagues

Lots of exaggeration there. Teams can sign 25 players, that's 5 extra "with " 4 lines already. They have 40 cards total available to them, that's 15 extra. That's more than enough to lose one or two if need be.
Re: Ottawa U18 2022/23 Season
NCDC is not Premier. NCDC is free hockey. The top NCDC teams are much better than the CCHL. Overall CCHL is better once you get past the top 3-4 NCDC franchises.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:45 amGuest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 9:16 amPlayers are showing up (many as cuts from NAHL camps) from the U.S and the advisors are working them in by (i am guessing) paying a premium (I am being generous). Re: Ottawa U18 2022/23 Season
The other reality is players can do the math too. A player who sees kids suddenly show up at late in camp will ask out versus being strung along and not playing much. This makes for a interesting dynamic between owner and player. Technically, an owner can hang on to a player all year and never play them
Re: Ottawa U18 2022/23 Season
You are not well informed when it comes to NCDC. I get your a big CCHL fan (probably an owner lol) but knocking other leagues is not the answer. NCDC since 2012 has grown incredibly well and is fast becoming the go to league for many players. On the other hand, the CCHL is an old league which has a serious optics issue. It is the reason that many strong players that used to go to the CCHL now try to find other leagues to play in. I still think it's a decent league but you knocking other leagues is wrong and unprofessional. There are excellent programs outside the CCHL for player development.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 10:45 amGuest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 9:16 amPlayers are showing up (many as cuts from NAHL camps) from the U.S and the advisors are working them in by (i am guessing) paying a premium (I am being generous). Re: Ottawa U18 2022/23 Season
The moral of the story. The US junior leagues are improving each and every year by leaps and bounds. They also have younger and better coaches in their ranks.Hockey has changed since the 80s and early 90s. Unfortunately, a good portion of CCHL coaches still think suicide drills are good coaching.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 12:30 pmYou are not well informed when it comes to NCDC. It's you who's not informed. You're probably the father if a player not good enough play in the CCHL, and went to the NCDC.
Their caliber of play is low, their travel for a league that low caliber is too high. They can't compete and are spouting the same "marketing " lines you have regurgitated here. If a player left for the US to play in the USHL or the NAHL, different story.
Keep dreaming
Re: Ottawa U18 2022/23 Season
1 NCDC team had 9 Division 1 commitments last year. Almost more than the CCHL as a whole. So please come back with the facts next time. NCDC is getting better, CCHL is getting eaten alive by its bottom franchises.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 4:07 pmGuest wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 12:30 pmYou are not well informed when it comes to NCDC.
