I can tell you first hand that there are kids in the 2014 and 2015 birth year outside of NF that are definitely A/AA caliber players but have been stuck in their B centre. With open border next season, those birth years in NF could have much better teams if the coaches do the right thing and take players from outside the association. Weeding out cusp players and taking on kids that should be playing AA/A alreadyGuest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 10:51 amI can hear the pitch now, from the coach to the potential A/AA recruit! Time for some big changes in that association, hopefully they do the right thing and pick the best kids for each team and are able recruit AA/A level kids from other organizations.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 9:35 amGuest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:11 pmIs it really that bad? Are you crazy - U10, U11, U12... all pretty much dead last in A and AA. I happened to be at the Gale Centre and saw a U10AA game. Boys couldnt even do crossovers or skate backwards. That organization will have to make some big changes - maybe take smaller rosters to start and only take AA/A level kids for a few years to build up some wins.
Niagara falls minor hockey is the worst

Re: Niagara falls minor hockey is the worst
The great thing about Niagara Falls is the change at the Board level. They are young, progressive, diverse board with plenty of professional and high level hockey background. More importantly, they know how to navigate through the Open Borders changes. Expect Flyers to move from bottom performers to mid pack performance next year. The goal is compete for OHF A/AA championships within two years. Fantastic outlook, join the Flyers next year.

I dont know if the 2015s will improve. The new head coach is a lacrosse guy -- there is no way he's cutting some of the extremely weak houseleague calibre lacrosse boys that will come to tryout. He'll probably let their Dads help coach!
In younger age groups, if a good coach takes the best 12 skaters and zero "friend's kids who cant skate/arent aggressive" - he could turn it into a winning team. Time will tell.
Re: Niagara falls minor hockey is the worst
Do we know anything about the 2014's AA team coach? Again, looking at this years results, I would think there is definitely room to improve that team with players from outside NFGuest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 1:42 pmGuest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 11:03 amI can tell you first hand that there are kids in the 2014 and 2015 birth year outside of NF that are definitely A/AA caliber players but have been stuck in their B centre. Great to hear! Niagara Falls needs to advertise on their website that they WANT imports. Adding 6-7 players from Ft Erie/Port Colborne/Pelham to each of their rosters will make a major impact. Once imports know they are welcome - more will flock to the organization. And it adds incentive for current players to improve and compete. Too many weak kids get spots because they are friends with the coach - save that crap for BB and LL.

Can't do that. Recruiting violation. We can only announce tryout dates and next years coaches. Trust the Board to do their job for Flyers.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 2:10 pmGuest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 1:27 pm The great thing about Niagara Falls is the change at the Board level. Not True. Check out the Oakville Rangers home page. They even offer billeting and private school for recruits. It is very blatant advertising for recruits. Definitely not a violation because it has been on their site since February 15. Niagara Falls minor hockey needs to lead the pack with recruiting or they will fall further behind!
Its hard to trust a board that thinks advertising that they want import players is wrong - what else dont they know. The board needs to become open minded and put success first.

Niagara Falls has the worst trailer park trash parent groups in all of minor hockey. Human garbage.
