Good on them. How will it work playing top GTHL teams as part of the regular schedule?

Why would teams restrict how many player from outside 'their' zone play on a team. You think they aren't going to allow players to join their team because of some zone that doesn't even exist anymore. Any team around the GTHL will loss players to the G for sure, they will not be turning away players wanting to play on their team to make up for the kids leaving. There are no borders, deal with the new world.
Some smaller communities may mandate their local associations have a minimal amount of local kids in order for them to provide a discount on the ice.

Too many imports may mean higher ice prices.
That would just ensure they are near the bottom of the league and province in rankings. Which eventually leads to them losing their association all together. Better off opening up and being competitive.
Instead of trying to find ways to indirectly battle this ruling, perhaps all associations should actually just do what the ruling is intending to encourage which is, build a good program with good coaching and a proper development plan. It sounds like you people are hopeful that orgs just find ways to still hold kids hostage rather than actually give people what they're paying for. Who's side are you all on?

Right?

This is exactly what organizations need to do. Spend the next 30 days coming up with a plan. Recruit as good a coach as you can and start posting on your website what your program is going to offer and what the costs involved will be. People are going to be shopping, make sure your product is ready and sellable. Families are excited and looking for the best program for their kids, have it ready!
This statement is bang on. This will be a lot of work for organizations, I think the ones who do it properly out of the gates will be the most successful long term. Don’t limit movement organizationally, create an amazing product and watch the kids flock for years to come

OMHA knocked down a big peg.

OHF made their priorities clear. Get in while you can.
Wrong. This won’t change a thing for the G. This helps the OMHA. Look at the 07 and 08 age groups when they had open borders. The OMHA was way more competitive and had more kids drafted than the G. Closed borders hurt the OMHA. Kids that want to go to the G always found a way, this doesn’t change that.
Dumb argument, double the amount of teams. G will benefit, better overall competition. Yes, there are always a couple competitive non G teams, always has been. Concentration of competition is G, like it or not.
Dumb argument? It’s what happened. Less OMHA players feel the need to leave since they can now compete with the G teams. That’s what happened like it or not.

This makes the OMHA better. It helps OMHA way more than helps the G. G always had open borders now the OMHA does too.

Sounds like an organizing that is taking a proactive approach and is accepting change. Good on Oakville!
