My son has been to 4 skates already with a coach from a different center, and I have contacted other coaches and they are answering. No change from what has been going on for years. Coaches need to be careful of the bottom feeders on their teams.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:43 pmAP's aren't really a thing anymore. That said, the OHF stated that they will leave it up to the individual associations to decide if they will put a cap on the number of "import players" on their teams. Some associations may just keep it at max 3 while others might make it wide open and not put in limits. Some others in this thread have stated that associations get discounted ice rates dependent on how many local kids are playing in the association, not sure if that is true or not.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 9:09 amHow is AP going to work? can you AP from anywhere or does it have to be from the organization?Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:52 amYou can approach whoever you want.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 9:10 amCan you approach a coach?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2025 9:00 am
The OHF tampering rules are useless...I have been contacted by 4 different teams. I know quite a few others that have also had contacts. So, forget about tampering enforcement...wild west!
Just they can’t approach you. Correct
A coach really needs to screw up + be on the OHF get them out of here list to even care about tampering. Everyone knows it happens and nobody cares.
OHF Opening borders??

Re: OHF Opening borders??
Thank you for sharing such important information. Can you share the contacts of all the coaches you reached out to so that we can all call them and request they be careful.
Re: OHF Opening borders??
The G does not really play on municipal ice while OMHA does. From what I’ve heard the G will not have any caps and most OmHA will not either. At this point the org with caps will be the ones at a disadvantage.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:43 pmAP's aren't really a thing anymore. Re: OHF Opening borders??
AP are you referring to Alternate Player (aka Call Up)?How is AP going to work? can you AP from anywhere or does it have to be from the organization?
If so, call ups come from the association. G teams call up from the younger age group same level team. OMHA will continue to call up whoever they want from with the association.
This is not true. City of Toronto have a very clear ice allocation policy that factors in residency rules. The trick for Toronto is not just the cost reduction, it the actual allocation of ice. The hours you get are impacted by residency. Yes some teams use private ice, thus this does not impact those teams. The G does not really play on municipal ice while OMHA does. From what I’ve heard the G will not have any caps and most OMHA will not either. At this point the org with caps will be the ones at a disadvantage.
Mississauga is much more rigid. All the Mississauga teams use city ice and Mississauga has some serious public activist that want less discounts and hours goings to teams of non-residents. This is a debate every year at City Council. Mississauga ice allocation impacts both ice allotment and significant impact on cost.

THIS!Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:34 pmGuest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 9:46 pmYou’d be surprised. There are many such confused parents planning to drive over an hour to play in the G. They assume that the G will ensure their kid magically becomes a superstar.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 7:31 pmAnyone driving over an hour to play hockey needs some serious help.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:52 pm At the AA level, London announced they will not take any kids from outside the city except for Lambeth (which is in London city limits).
AAA is open, but I can't see a lot of parents driving over an hour for practices and games. It is not worth it.
Or just motivated to get away from a shit coach/organization.
