This. Anyone predicting the upcoming G season based on this is an idiot.

RJ might be the best 2016 in North America and people are trying to suggest that Team X sucks because they lost to a team that he was on? lmao

A lot parents who are minutes from their OMHA center but decided to jump ship to the G are probably regretting it now or will once half way through the season. Parents have decided to drive into Toronto traffic during a weekday practice becaause at 9 the G will produce superstars. There are kids further from Barrie where parents have decided to go to the G. Makes you wonder what are these parents thinking. Many teams are charging between 13k -15k + sponsorships, + league fees while OMHA is on avg 6k. With open borders many OMHA teams have strong teams as well and we obviously know WW will be the best team but that team may be an exception and be the best in the province because they probably have 3 of the top kids in the province. Obviously no team is gonna play them every week. After attending many skates in the G I can tell you that there are teams in the G where a lot of teams will be quite weak due to the lack of talent. There are at least 4 teams which are very weak. 2 border line. There are probably more weaker teams in the G than OMHA. A simple observation.

Driving from north of Barrie to put your 9 year old in the GTHL is perfect example of a parent living through their kids. It's deranged 'keeping up with the Jones'' behaviour that makes it all so toxic

Especially when the T1 Purple cobras were one of the best teams last year. They lost a couple kids down to YSE because they are from Newmarket/Aurora but the team would still have been phenomenal when you add in a couple T2 cobras and kids from the surrounding area MD.

But instead they choose to drive down to Toronto 4 or 5 times a week in traffic to play on the Young Nats or some other G team. Its literally insane. There are only going to be 4 or 5 good G teams. So its not like they are going to be playing better competition on average. It would have been the same in OMHA.

WW
Quinte
YSE
APR

Are all going to be pretty dang good.

BJC
Petb
King
COW

are all going to be solid.

MW
NCP
NSW

are going to be dog shit.

Do they genuinely believe the development is going to be soo much beter in the GTHL when you are:

- Still playing in a league where 66% of games will be blow outs
- paying literally twice the cost
- Driving 1.5 hours on average in traffic both ways 4-5 days a week
- dealing with Toronto people, shitty toronto rinks, and some of the most cut-throat/toxic humans in the world?

Dumb, dumb, dumb...

Ive put 3 kids through hockey and this debate has been going on for 25 years. You are not educating anybody on anything. All it sounds like is you are mad you play on a watered down team or watered down league. most the people I knew who made these rants ended up in the G,... Worrying about how far other people drive for something is the defintion of "dumb, dumb, dumb" .... worry about yourself, you will have more fun, trust me

Whoever is second in the OMHA will be easily beaten by the top 4-5 in the G. That's the difference.

You can't say all these good players are leaving for the G and then claim the leagues are the same. That's dumb.

Looks like you didn’t have your morning coffee yet and still half asleep. Let me break it down for you. WW will beat your top 5 G teams any day of the week. With open borders you will see stronger teams in OMHA. If someone drives 1 hr or 2 hours that’s their choice although completely unnecessary at this age.

For players from Richmond Hill, Markham, Aurora, Newmarket, it is way more convenient to play G than OMHA. 35 mins drive to rink (SV, WW, Thornhill etc.). No crazy drive to games (Quinte, Barrie)., Although it is 3/4 k more expensive, but think about the time saved. Also when you play GTHL you can explore 12 teams technically. But when you play OMHA, in case the team is toxic or have any problem, you will struggle.

That's one team who will have trouble finding any good games in the OMHA. Top kids will be lured by the jerseys in the G, nobody cares about Whitby.

If you play for a top 6 team great. But if your paying 7k more for a bottom team in the G getting blown out it makes no sense in my opinion. There are a lot of weak teams in the G for the upcoming season. The comments about a toxic team does not matter either way. You will not be switching teams half way through the season and you could go to another team the following year from anywhere with open borders. Some people are 10 mins from their OMHA rink for practices, you will also have home games which would also be so close. How often will you actually play Quinte, Barrie and Kingston in away games. Parents will make a decision based on many factors but playing on any of those 4-5 bottom teams in the G and paying more and driving more to do it is just silly.
